We have many years of experience supplying our heat exchangers for dairy applications.
Plate Heat Exchangers are incredibly efficient for energy usage in milk pasteurisation. During pasteurisation milk is heated to a high temperature and then quickly cooled before bottling or packaging to keep it fresh for longer. This process makes the milk safer to drink by killing the bacteria.
Usually pasteurisation units are used where the product is heated to a pasteurisation temperature, goes out into holding tubes, and then re-enters the PHE to be cooled down again for storage or for bottling purposes. Because we are both heating and cooling inside the same heat exchanger we can recover the maximum amount of energy, up to 90%!
The units usually consist of three or more sections:
Section 1: Heat recovery - cold product enters the PHE, is pre-heated by the already heated product before returning to be cooled.
Section 2: Pasteurisation section – preheated product from the heat recovery section is then heated by water to the pasteurisation temperature
Section 3: pre-cooled product from the heat recovery section is then cooled down to a desired final outlet temperature.
Because of our intermediate frame design we are not limited to connections at the front and back of the unit but instead can take product in and out in the middle of the plate pack, which is useful for processes involving homogenisers and separators.
Our extensive range of Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers provide compact thermally efficient solutions to your heat transfer requirements. The main advantage of a gasketed plate heat exchanger is that it is possible to open up the inside components for cleaning and maintenance purposes. It also allows extra plates to be added should your process conditions change
The Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers are manufactured in our UK factory from stock components, which means that we can normally deliver fully assembled and tested units extremely quickly.
Plate Heat Exchangers transfer heat energy from one side to another without the two products on either side mixing. So you can install them between the boiler and process circuit for example to separate the two circuits. Plate heat exchangers are a very popular choice mainly due to the compact size and high efficiency design that they offer.
Our stock range of Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers are WRAS approved subject to a maximum operating temp of 100°c
